Principal's Welcome

Kelly Kriss, Principal

This is Kelly Kriss’ 11th year as an administrator and 26th year in education.  When asked why she chose middle school after teaching high school for so long, she responded “Because I am passionate about supporting students during one of the most important stages of their development. Middle school is a time when students are discovering who they are, building confidence, and developing the academic and social skills that will shape their future. I want to create a school environment where every student feels safe, valued, challenged, and supported.  I love being a principal because I have the opportunity to build strong relationships with students, teachers, families, and the community while creating a positive school culture.”

Melanie Harris, Assistant Principal

“Always be a work in progress.”

Melanie Harris begins her fifth year as an administrator and 30th year in education this school year.   When people ask why middle school, her response is, “I love working with middle schoolers, their families and the community.  These are the years of intense growth and opportunity for students.  They are dealing with the pressures of becoming more independent as a human and a learner, as well as the pressures of becoming a young adult.  It is an important time in students’ lives to teach them about managing these pressures and taking responsibility for their choices.”

three leaders at promotion

Rob Celli, Dean of Students

Rob is  currently in my 30th year in education and my 15th year as an administrator. Throughout his career, he has truly enjoyed being part of a middle school community and working with middle school students. Because middle school is such a unique and important time in a young person’s life, he appreciates the energy and unpredictability of middle school. No two days are alike. The fast-paced environment brings constant problem-solving, meaningful relationships, and plenty of lively interactions with students. After 30 years in education, he continues to find middle school an exciting and rewarding place to be.
