About the Teacher

Mr. Marti

Born in North County San Diego, off to college at the University of California Santa Cruz, graduate studies at San Francisco State University, then to Marin County, I just kept heading north.  However, since landing in Marin, I have been here for quite sometime.  In fact, I began teaching here at Mill Valley Middle School in 1998.  That's right, more than two decades - kind of cool, kind of wild too!

Education is a passion of mine and there have been a lot of educators on both sides of my family for over a century.  I have a daughter at UCSD and a son at UCSB and a lovely wife here at home.  On weekends, we can often be found on a trail, on a peak, on a beach, on a field, or in the water, somewhere outdoors.... Oh and numbers, well, they follow me too, because math is EVERYWHERE!

Looking forward to meeting you. -Mr. M

Welcome to Algebra and Math 8 classes.  I am pleased you found your way.  Weekly plans, daily assignments and announcements can be found in Google Classroom.  Feel free to explore other helpful tabs to the left.  All students will be issued e-books this year that allow access to the online textbook from any computer, tablet, or phone using your Google ID and password.

I am looking forward to a wonderful 2024-25 academic year. Let's get started!

My best, Lorenz Marti

Algebra/Math 8 Student Materials

All students will need a thin 3-ring binder (≤1”)  with four tab dividers for the following sections:

(1) Assignments, (2) Notes, (3) Tests/Quizzes, and (4) Graph paper

You will also need pencils, pens (preferably red), and a basic scientific calculator.  I also recommend that you keep a small set of colored pencils, a ruler, and a zipper pouch to hold materials.  Students may use a thin spiral notebook (optional) for HW by simply clicking it into the Assignments section of their math binder. This binder is mandatory and is the first assignment (AD#1).  Binders really help students be organized with daily assignments, notes, and graded assessments. I will have extra materials in the classroom as well to help students get organized and set up binders.
